Custom foods are created via the My Food section, which appears when you start adding a meal. Here's how to do it step by step:
- Open the Lasta app, tap More tab and select Food section under the Trackers.
- In the Food diary view, select the meal category you want to log into: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, or Snacks/Other.
- Tap the + (plus) icon next to the chosen meal.
- The food search/add screen opens. At the top, you'll see tabs including My Food (this is where your saved custom items appear).
- Switch to the My Food tab.
- Look for the Create food button (or similar option like + Create food, Add custom food, or a chef's hat icon—depending on your app version). Tap it.
- Fill in the details for your custom food:
- Name the food or meal (e.g., "Homemade Chicken Stir-Fry" or "My Protein Shake").
- Enter the nutritional information per serving or total (use values from a label, recipe calculator, or scale):
- Calories
- Carbohydrates (total carbs, fiber, sugars)
- Fats (total, saturated, etc.)
- Proteins
- Optional: Other nutrients like sodium, vitamins, etc. (if you have them)
- Specify the serving size or portion (e.g., 1 bowl = 300g, 1 serving = 200ml).
- Add any notes, ingredients list, or photo if the app supports it.
- Tap Save or Create to store it in My Food.
- It will now appear in your My Food tab for quick reuse anytime.
- To add it to your diary:
- From the same add-food screen (or anytime later), go to My Food tab.
- Select your newly created custom food.
- Enter/adjust the portion size you consumed.
- Confirm to log it—the macros and calories will use your entered values and update your daily stats automatically.
Tips for Custom Foods
- Best for: Homemade recipes, unique brands, or items not found via search/barcode.
- Accuracy: Use reliable sources (nutrition labels, apps like USDA database, or a kitchen scale) when entering values to keep your overall tracking precise.
- Recipes vs. single foods: If the app has a separate Create recipe option (some versions do), use that for multi-ingredient meals—it often lets you add ingredients individually and auto-calculates totals.
- Editing or deleting custom items: Go back to My Food tab → tap your item → look for Edit or Delete options.
- Reuse: Saved customs show up in My Food for fast logging across days/meals.
- Troubleshooting: If My Food or Create food isn't visible, ensure the app is updated to the latest version, try force-quitting/reopening, or check during the add-food flow (it may only appear after tapping + in a meal category).
This feature makes tracking flexible and personalized—especially for real-life eating! If the button layout changes or you need help with a specific recipe, contact Lasta support via the app menu.
