Adding food to your diary in the Food tab is quick and straightforward. Lasta uses a vast database to help you log meals accurately, calculate calories, macros, and nutrients automatically, and track your progress toward your daily goals.
Follow these simple steps:
- Open the Lasta app on your device.
- Tap More tab and select Food section under Trackers
- You'll land in the Food diary view for the current day.
- At the top, there's a date selector to switch days if you're logging for a past or future date (great for planning ahead or back-logging).
- Below that, you'll see your daily calorie summary (progress toward your goal).
- Further down are the meal categories: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Snacks (or Other).
- Tap the + (plus) icon next to the meal category where you want to add the food (e.g., next to Breakfast).
- A search bar will appear—type the name of the food, meal, recipe, or brand you're logging (or use the barcode scanner or AI scanner if available for packaged items).
- Browse and select the matching item from the results.
- On the details screen, enter the correct portion size or weight (e.g., grams, ounces, cups, or number of servings).
- Accurate portions ensure precise calorie and nutrient tracking—adjust using the slider, number input, or predefined serving options.
- Tap Confirm, Add, or Save (the button may vary slightly by app version) to log it.
- The food will now appear in the selected meal, and your daily totals (calories, macros, nutrients) will update instantly.
Tips for Better Logging
- Portion sizes: If you're unsure about what a "serving" means (e.g., how much is 1 cup of rice or a medium apple?), use common visual guides like your hand (fist = 1 cup veggies, palm = protein portion) or check reliable external resources for portion education. Lasta's database often includes standard servings, but always double-check what matches your actual consumption.
- Quick adds: Recent or frequent foods may appear as suggestions. You can also log custom foods or recipes if something isn't in the database.
- Editing after adding: Tap the logged item → select Edit to adjust portion, details, or delete.
- Logging for other days: Use the calendar at the top to select any date—perfect for meal prepping or correcting missed entries.
- Troubleshooting: If the + icon isn't visible, ensure you're in the Food diary (not another section like Meal Plan), pull down to refresh, or update the app. No search results? Try alternative spellings or add manually.
